Air-Cooled
Nd:YAG Laser
|
This is a small pulsed Nd:YAG laser intended for use in a laser
micromachining application and is affixed to a microscope. It was
a difficult design task in that its specs for peak power, average
power, rep rate and non-patent-infringing technologies put it on the
edge between a high-rep-rate system that might otherwise use an A-O
Q-switch and a high-gain system that might need an E-O Q-switch.
Further, the requirement of good conversion efficiency to the third
harmonic made it essential to use the widely-varying acceptance angles
in LBO to an advantage, resulting in an elliptic mode volume that
required correction at the output.
